The objective of the Carthage Junior High Library Media Center is to instill in students a life-long love of reading and to provide the knowledge, tools, and technology to research for personal interests and educational needs encouraging students to make research and reading a life-long skill.

The library media specialist's primary objective is to implement, enrich, and support the educational program of the school system by selecting and providing educational materials that reflect today's society in all formats (printed, nonprint, electronic) on all levels of difficulty, with diversity of appeal, that reflect a variety of viewpoints and that satisfy the curricular needs as well as the individual recreational and research needs of the student, faculty and staff.

The library media specialist and the aide strive to create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere while assisting students and faculty with their academic and recreational needs. We provide opportunites for collaboration with teachers on lessons and research projects. We prepare and conduct book talks both oral and electronic. We create displays and conduct various programs to pique students' interest in books and reading. We also prepare grant requests to provide funds to secure guest authors and storytellers to enrich the library experience for all students.
